Peepli Live is an upcoming film on the class divide between the urban and rural population of India. The film is being produced by Aamir Khan. The actor, known to be a perfectionist, is personally looking into every aspect of the film. He recently unveiled the first look of the film. The film has hit a sixer with the first look itself. Debutant director, Anusha Rizvi has done a brilliant job in handling the film which she has scripted herself. The film has already received rave reviews from the international film festival circuits before it makes its way into the art cinema circles. Peepli Live is the first Bollywood film to compete in the Sundance International Film Festival, held earlier this year.

Peepli Live is a satire on the rampant farmers’ suicides that have rocked India in the recent years. Peepli live has a huge star cast, but mainly focuses on Natha a poor farmer from Peepli village in the heart of rural India who is about to lose his plot of land due to an unpaid loan. He finds a solution to his problem in the government scheme that bails out the families of indebted farmers who have committed suicide. Natha becomes a celebrity overnight with political bigwigs, high-ranking bureaucrats, local henchmen and the ever-zealous media making a beeline for the sleepy town of Peepli. The film realistically brings out the growing divide between the rural and urban India and the life that is much prevalent in Indian villages. Peepli Live, distributed by UTV Motion Pictures is scheduled for release on August 13, 2010.
