After having worked together in Chandni Chowk to China, the famed jodi of Akshay Kumar and Nikhil Advani are all set to recreate their magic in the upcoming Bollywood film Patiala House. The movie is a story of a Sikh who gives up his dream to save his father's reputation until he meets a girl who gives him the strength to stand up for what he believes.

The movie sports huge starcast with Akshay Kumar in the lead along with the ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ and ‘Badmaash Company’ fame Anushka Sharma. Akshay will be seen playing the role of ‘Parghat Singh Kahlon’ while the beautiful Anushka plays ‘Simran’ in the movie. After being seen together in Namastey London, Akshay will be once again seen with the ‘Bobby’ hero Rishi Kapoor who plays Akshay’s father ‘Gurtej Singh Kahlon’. The ‘Bobby’ pair reappears in the film, with Rishi teaming up with Dimple Kapadia, who makes it to the silver screen after her last movie ‘Jumbo’ went unnoticed at the box office. The movie also stars the first female Indian rapper, Hard Kaur. English cricketing legends Nasser Hussain, Graham Gooch, Ian Botham, David Gower and also Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal will be seen as guest appearances in the movie. The movie produced by Mukesh Talreja, has been directed by Nikhil Advani and music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.

The movie began shooting in December 2009 and has been pre-dominantly shot in Britain, with some scenes being shot at the cricket stadium of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. Akshay is seen playing for the English Cricket Team as a frontline pace bowler and has taken special bowling training from the 1983 World Cup winning champion Balvinder Singh Sandhu. In an interview with a British based Punjabi website, Akki-baby jokes around with the reporter and asks his interview to be taken in Punjabi rather than English. The ‘Khiladi’ Kumar sports the Sikh tattoo on his wrist in the movie and is quick to inform the audience that ‘Patiala’ means big in Punjabi and ‘Patiala House’ refers to the huge house that is shown in the movie and not the Patiala province in Punjab! The movie highlights the generation and cultural gaps that exists between original migrants and their grandchildren who have been born and brought up in UK.

Watch India International Jewellery Week Online

Following the trend of the many fashion weeks that are held in India, India recently held its first ever jewellery week from 15th to 19th August. The show showcased exquisite jewellery designs by thirty Indian jewellery designs. Some well known brands like Mirari, Gitanjali, Amrapali, Tanishq, Nakshatra, and Ganjam also showcased some of their finest creations.

The event was organised by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India, supported by the ministry of commerce and industry. The event flagged off on 15th August. The first day, taking place on Independence Day, drew a large crowd from opening ceremony to closing. Leading models and Bollywood actresses walked the ramp as they sported the beautiful jewellery creations. The showstoppers on the first day were the gorgeous Katrina Kaif and the scintillating Deepika Padukone. Liquor baron’s son Siddharth Mallya was seen cheering for Deepika as she walked the ramp. Deepika Padukone, looked stunning as she wore a stunning gold colour net lehanga and sparkling kundan jewellery. Deepika sashayed down the ramp for jewellery designer Farah Khan’s India inspired collection. Katrina Kaif walked the ramp for Nakshatra Diamond Jewellery at the event in Mumbai. The actress showed off her sexy curves in a peach coloured Neeta Lulla lehenga.

Seven designers showed off their collections on each of the first two days, with short breaks between each session. The jewellery items were largely inspired by traditional Indian designs, including Nizam's jewellery and the royal Mughal era designs, with frequent use of rose-cut diamonds, jade and rubies set in yellow or white gold.

Classic designs, bridal sets and other large layouts, the sought after markets were clearly the local one as well as the Gulf countries, North Africa and Azerbaijan. The next few days were targetted to expand the scope, with designers eyeing the U.S. and West European markets unveiling their collections on the catwalk.

According to Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council's (GJEPC) Sanjay Kothari, IIJW is intended to bring India's high-end jewellery to a wide audience. The use of celebrities – Miss India joined Bollywood starlets – was to grab local media attention, which it did.

Hema, Eesha and Neetu resplendent at the Derewala Fashion Show

The mother-daughter duo of Hema Malini and Eesha Deol grabbed all the eyeballs, amidst an elaborate lineup of models at the launch of Italian Designer Jewellery collection by the Derewala Jewellers at J.W. Marriot on August 21st. Tinsel-town celebs Neetu Chandra and Hard Kaur also graced the event and added to the glam quotient.

The south Indian beauties were the centre of attraction in their picture perfect sarees. ‘Dreamgirl’ Hema Malini, 61, looked elegantly beautiful in a white satin sari with embellished borders and a matching short sleeved blouse. The lady carried a pink satin clutch with some light jewellery. She topped off the look with a yellow rose in her shoulder length dark brown hair. Appropriate make up highlighted her stunning facial features.

‘Darling’ daughter Eesha Deol looked drop dead gorgeous in a blue laced sari with spangled borders and matching short sleeve blouse. Esha Deol matched steps with her beautiful mom, Hema Malini, who was the cynosure of all eyes at the Derewala fashion show. The ‘Dhoom’ actress who also walked down the ramp at the show, accessorized with a stunning gold necklace, drop earrings, multiple bracelets along with a cocktail ring in her right index finger and a pearl ring in her left little finger. With the right make-up and hair do in place she looked as stunning as her mother.
The hot and spicy ‘Garam Masala’ fame babe Neetu Chandra also was present at the event. Neetu dazzled as he wore an elaborate full length sleeveless pink gown. Her hair neatly pulled back, the dusky beauty looked like your girl next door. Neetu Chandra said that she liked the Indo-Western jewellery which was basically very light and could be used for daily wear. Big Boss contestant and model Aryan Vaid and hindi hip-hop singer Hard Kaur were also present at the event.

Watch the Fun and Frolic on the sets of Chote Ustad with Deepika and Neil

Be a part of all the fun and masti on the sets of Star Plus - Amul Chhote Ustaad- Do Deshon ki Ek Awaaz as the stars of Lafangey Parindey, Deepika Padukone and Neil Nitin Mukesh graced the sets with their presence and unique style.

The participants of Chhote Ustaad Deepika Neil event were divided into two teams. The Lafangey was team led by Neil and the Parindey team led by the beautiful Deepika. The young contestants were extremely excited to meet the duo and it showed in their enthusiastic performances.

Neil was equally keyed up about being on the show – he confessed that he was very intrigued by the interesting promo which highlighted the theme “Do Deshon ki Ek Awaaz” as this unique reality show has participants from India as well as Pakistan. This will be Neil’s second appearance on the musical reality show Chhote Ustaad. He had also appeared as a guest on Chhote Ustaad, Season 1. Despite suffering from a severe headache, Neil popped pills and came on sets and managed to have a great time. Sonu Niigaam too, who was down with fever, took injections during the shoots and was enthusiastic in spite his ill-health. Neil and Sonu sung the famous Mukesh number “Jaane Kahan Gaye Wo Din” together. Sonu says that his father was a Mukesh Bhakt. Sonu said that this song was a tribute to his father and Neil’s grandfather Late Mukesh.

Interestingly, one of the contestants challenged Deepika to a game of badminton! She may not be playing the game anymore, but actress she seemed to remember the nuances of the game very well as she got all her serves right! Deepika also sung a line or two after her co-star Neil egged her on to sing “Mann Lafanga” from their upcoming film. Sonu Niigaam apparently was much impressed by her tuneful rendition. Looking beautiful in a red churidaar, Deepika even performed her Ek Chutki Sindoor Ki Keemat scene from "Om Shanti Om". And, while Omi Vaidya aka Chatur played cop, Sonu Niigaam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan were at the judges table, creating a fine balance between work and pleasure. This was Deepika’s first appearance on the show. She got very emotional when, Rahat sang “Main Jahan Rahoon” and also when Sonu sang “Ab Mujhe Raat Din” on Neil’s request.

Dhoom Dhoom all the way at Commonwealth Games 2010

The makers of the iconic songs ‘Maaeri’ and ‘Dhoom Pichak’ EUPHORIA have come up with another hit number, this time it’s for the upcoming Delhi Commonwealth Games 2010. The Indi-rock band led by the effervescent Dr. Palash Sen is all set with their theme track “Dilli – Gateway to your Heart”, which has been made keeping the global audience in mind. The games will be held from October 3 to October 14 in New Delhi.

The 2010 Commonwealth Games may be plagued by a lot of controversies, but the Delhi-based band, which has many chartbusters to their credit, and is one of India’s busiest live acts, has composed the official theme song for the games. Mrs. Sheila Dixit, Chief Minister of New Delhi has given her go ahead and now there will be two versions of the CWG 2010 anthem – English and Hindi. Dr. Sen says, “Sheilaji is a fan of Euphoria, so she asked me to compose two versions of the anthem – one each in Hindi and English. It is a huge honour for me to be part of such a prestigious event.” The English track will be called ‘Gateway to your Heart’, a two and half minute track which will connect with the international audience.

The FIFA World Cup 2010 saw a 30 second song promo of the song being released on TV channels and web simultaneously. “The idea was to make tunes that people can sing,” Sen reveals. “That’s been the USP (Unique Selling Point) of Euphoria. Euphoria always tries to create modern songs, with Indian souls,” he smiles. “So the music has a hint of rock, but we’ve also used a lot of tabla, dhol and other Indian instruments, in a way that the entire world can relate to the song.” The band is also looking forward to the release of their eagerly awaited fifth studio album in September 2010.

The series will be called “Hind Rock n Roll” and will be produced by Mr. Gaurav Mendiratta, Founder and President of NyooTV. This is a unique initiative by NyooTV in association with Euphoria to create exclusive content and provide their followers with never before stories and experiences related to the videos of 14 classic Euphoria songs.

Fronted by doctor rocker Palash Sen, Euphoria has always had a special place in the hearts of Indian music lovers with hits like “Dhoom” “Maaeri” “Gully” and “Mehfuz”. They are known as the biggest and the most prolific band in the subcontinent, with 4 chartbuster albums, a “best of” compilation record, hit singles and live concerts across the globe. Euphoria is known for their earthy and fresh music videos, which were instrumental in launching the careers of famous Bollywood actresses like Neha Dhupia, Rimi Sen and Vidya Balan.

The other directors included Dibakar Bannerjee of “Love Sex aur Dhokha” and “Khosla ka Ghosla Fame”, Amitabh Bhattacharya, Dhiraaj Bannerjee and award winning documentary film maker Vikram Mishra.

Watch Rajnikanth New Movie - Endhiran Trailer on NyooTV

Endhiran is a forthcoming Tamil science fiction film with Southern Superstar Rajnikanth and Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles and directed by S. Shankar. Music maestro A. R. Rahman has given the background score for this film. The film is being produced by Kalinidhi Maran and is all set to be a record breaker of sorts. The film will have the record of having the highest budget ever in Indian cinema and will also be the largest worldwide release for an Indian film. The film was under filming for over two years and is in the post-production stage now. It has a generous dose of special effects which fans will love. Endhiran will be released with its dubbed versions, ‘Robot’ in Hindi and ‘Robo’ in Telugu. The film’s music was released in July, 2010 in a dazzling function in Malaysia.

Endhiran is Superstar Rajanikanth’s film that comes after a long gap. He has a double role where he plays the roles of a scientist and a robot. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays his love interest, while Bollywood actor Danny Denzongpa plays the villain in the film.

Rajanikanth plays a scientist who creates a Robot with artificial intelligence similar to that of a sixth sense in humans to help human beings and for the development of the country. But its silicon heart falls in love with Aishwarya Rai, writes romantic poems and the Robot behaves just like a human being. Knowing about the extra ordinary intelligence of the Robot, the villains try to get control of the Robot. Scientist Rajni fights to save the Robot falling into the hand of the enemies and destroys the evil forces using the Robot itself.

The film was earlier slated for a release on the 10^th of September, but Sun Pictures, the producers of this film have advanced the date to 3^rd September. One of the highlights of this film is that Rajinikanth would be seen without his famed moustache in most parts thereby making him look much younger. The last time director Shankar and actor Rajinikanth came together they created magic with Sivaji - The Boss. Hope that Endhiran - The Robot manages to live up to its hype and breaks all Box Office records when it releases later this year.
